Franklin Mudra, 75

Funeral services for Franklin D. Mudra, 75, of Rochester, formerly of Albert Lea, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. The Rev. Kent Otterman will officiate. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
Franklin died on Friday, Oct. 9, 2009, at St. Marys Hospital, Rochester.
Franklin Dale Mudra was born on Dec. 29, 1933, in Austin, the son of Frank and Edna (Olson) Mudra. He attended and graduated from Albert Lea High School and then attended Austin Vo-Tech obtaining his training as a mechanic. He owned and operated a repair shop in Myrtle and also worked for the Freeborn County Highway Department for more than 30 years. On Nov. 28, 1956, Franklin was united in marriage to Betty Prine in Northwood, Iowa. Franklin enjoyed working on and restoring older cars and gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Betty, Rochester; daughters: Lorie and husband Mark Buehrer, Northwood, Iowa, and Linda and husband Todd Anderson, Ettrick, Wis.; grandsons: Ryan and Cory Buehrer, Dallas, Texas; sisters: Marlene and husband Dean Lechner, Austin, and Carol Oakland, Brownsdale; son-in-law, Mark Gayken, Albert Lea; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Franklin was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Janene Gayken; granddaughter, Jessica Gayken; brother, Wayne Mudra; and one sister in infancy.
