Funeral services for Janet Lois Olson, 65, of Albert Lea will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday at First Lutheran Church. The Rev. John Holt will officiate. Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Jan died Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009, surrounded by her family and friends.
Janet Lois Olson was born on Feb. 16, 1944, to Clifford and Mildred (Reese) Nelson in Waseca. She grew up in the Waseca area and went to country school in Otisco. Jan graduated from Waseca Central High School in 1962. She then attended the Naeve School of Nursing in Albert Lea and graduated as an RN in 1965. On Sept. 16, 1967, Jan was united in marriage to Lewis Olson at First Lutheran Church. She worked for a short time for Dr. Schmidt in Alden and then came to Naeve Hospital where she worked for over 40 years. Jan was very devoted to nursing and taking care of others. She enjoyed growing flowers, cleaning and she loved to laugh, dance and be with her grandbabies.
Survivors include her husband, Lew; children: Corey (Shannon) Olson, Chris (Melanie Elliott) Olson and Cher (Cody Habana) Olson; grandchildren: Treyton, Journey, Bella, Kasia, and Isaak Olson all of Alden; brother, Dwain (Marilyn) Nelson; sister, Sharon (Phil) Schwartz; and many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Jan was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Hunter Olson; brother, Gene (Charlotte) Nelson; and sister, Verlene (Jim) Paulson.
