Sean Alexander Laurie, 15, of Albert Lea, has earned the highest advancement award the Boy Scouts of America offers to Scouts, the Eagle Award.
Laurie will be recognized in his Eagle Scout Court of Honor ceremony at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, at Wedgewood Cove Golf Club 2200 W. Ninth St., Albert Lea.
A member of Halverson Troop 7, Laurie is one of approximately 4 percent of all Boy Scouts who attain the Eagle rank. Each candidate must earn 21 merit badges, demonstrate Scout spirit, service and leadership and successfully complete a community, church or school-related project to earn his Eagle.
Laurie chose to re-landscape the front exterior of Sibley Elementary School. The project took 154 hours and about 20 volunteers to complete.
Laurie is a sophomore at Albert Lea High School, where he plays on the boys’ varsity soccer team. He is a member of Grace Lutheran Church.
He is the son of Dr. John and Linda Laurie of Albert Lea.
