The national president of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars will visit Albert Lea next Tuesday during a two-day visit to Minnesota.
The visit will be the first in President Jan Tittle’s schedule of stops in southern Minnesota and will start at 2 p.m. at the American Legion on Broadway Avenue.
Tittle, of South Carolina, who was elected to her position in August, will be accompanied by Minnesota Department President Paty Thrond and other officers.
She is expected to spread the message of her theme for the year, “It’s Time for America’s Military Heroes.”
Freemond Madson VFW Post 447 Auxiliary President Eunice Hatleli encouraged all local post and auxiliary members, friends and any other interested people to attend the event. She said she thinks this is the first time a national auxiliary president has been in Albert Lea.
“This is a big deal,” Hatleli said.
Tittle will be served lunch at 2 p.m. After, the public is invited to visit with her and let her know that Minnesota is a welcoming state, Hatleli added.
After Tittle’s visit in Albert Lea, she will travel to Owatonna for social time and dinner.
On Wednesday, the national president will visit the Spam Museum in Austin and have lunch at the VFW post there. Her day will conclude with social hour at 5 p.m. and dinner at 6 p.m. at the Frank J. Kalis VFW Post 1778 in Wells.
Tittle has previously served as auxiliary and district president, national publicity director, national patriotic instructor and national chairwoman for the Southern Conference on Americanism and Hospital programs.
She is a life member of the VFW National Home for Children, a charter member of the Dixie Dogs Pup Tent 11 of the military order of the Cooties Auxiliary and a member of the Highland Park Baptist Church.
She recently retired as office manager for Kia Country of Savannah and Kia Country of Charleston car dealerships. She is also a licensed Realtor.
She and her husband, Daniel, have two children and one grandchild.
