Robert Emerson, 85, of Algona, Iowa, died Oct. 23, 2009. He was born July 1, 1924, in Superior, Wis., to Roy and Emma Emerson.
Bob served in Europe during World War II as an MP in the U.S. Army, receiving three bronze stars. He was an avid golfer and persuasive salesman known for his laughter.
Bob is survived by six daughters: Susan (Dean) Beeman of Duluth; Patricia Swanson of Lake City; Carol (Michael) Lasky of Lake City; Diane Emerson of New Zealand; Sandra (Patrick) Tuzinski of Bloomington; Sharon (Jeff) Minger of Anamosa, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Barbara (Dean) Van Nostern of Vancouver, Wash.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wives: Imogene (Sayers) and Geraldine (Pendergast); sister, Dr. Marjorie Whitsitt; and son-in-law, Del Swanson.
A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at First Presbyterian Church, 101 N. Main St., Algona, IA 50511.
