Sleet makes roads slippery

Law enforcement officers report that roads in the Albert Lea area are slippery. Many motorists are having a hard time with the roads and are sliding. Some automobiles have left the roadways and entered ditches. So far, there are no serious injuries.

Bridge Avenue in Albert Lea has been the site of a few fender benders this morning. Several cars went into the ditch of the two interstate highways that run through Freeborn County, too. Some particularly had trouble navigating the I-90-I-35 cloverleaf interchange.

The rain-snow mix is expected to taper off somewhat this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service, but pick up again tonight.
