Aside from similar Mexican foods, El Tio Pancho also carries candies that are frequently used for parties. They also sell ceramic dishes and mariachi piggy banks.
They also have Mexican shampoos and a few personal care items, plus nuts, soups, teas and dried items as well.
Jacinto Grajales, owner of El Jarocho Market on East Main Street, is also active in the community and hosts some events at his market.
Aside from a few car cruises at the market over the summer, Grajales said they could also host an event for Cinco de Mayo. They also held an event at the store on Saturday.
Grajales said the biggest difference in his market from grocery stores like Hy-Vee is the products.
“What’s different is we only sell Mexican products. That’s the difference,” said Jacinto Grajales.
El Jarocho also sells fresh baked breads and rolls. They also sell different spices and different products including ground and dried to be used in soups and different items.
Much of the store is similar to grocery stores like Hy-Vee, and El Jarocho has a small deli with meats and cheeses, only from a Mexican company. Like other stores, they have canned goods and candies, but they often have Spanish writing on them.
Aside from El Tio Pancho and El Jarocho, El Padrino is open on South Broadway Avenue, and Dos Hermanos Mexican Store is set to open soon on Main Street.
