Arlene Jost

Arlene M. Jost, 92, of Brownsdale died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009, at the Field Crest Care Center, Hayfield.
She was born Sept. 27, 1917 in Albert Lea, daughter of Joseph and Hazel (Jewitt) Buss. She graduated from Albert Lea High School and worked for Western Union in Grand Forks, N.D. and Minneapolis.
Arlene was married to John Jost on Nov. 1, 1947 in Albert Lea. They resided in Chicago, until moving to Austin in 1952. In 1960, they moved to Brownsdale. She was employed as a secretary in the installment loan department of the First National Bank of Austin. Arlene was a member of the United Methodist Church in Brownsdale. She enjoyed playing cards and fishing. She was an avid bowler and was inducted into the Austin Bowler’s Hall of Fame.
She is survived by son, Mark Jost and his wife, Shelly Tucson, Ariz.; two grandchildren John Jost, Boulder, Colo. and Carolyn Jost, Lafayette, Ind.; brothers Howard Buss, Bakersfield, Calif. and Dale Buss, and wife, Mary, Sacramento, Calif.; and nieces and nephews.
Arlene was preceded in death by her husband, John.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Brownsdale United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Schultz officiating.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary, Austin, and for one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday.
Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery, Albert Lea.
The family prefers memorials, either the American Cancer Society or the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
