Bemidji State doesn’t join the Western Collegiate Hockey Association until next season, but the Beavers arrived on Sunday.
Bemidji State scored three goals in a span of 1:26 of the third period and coasted to a 6-2 men’s hockey win over the Minnesota Gophers. It was the first win ever by the Beavers (8-1-1) over the WCHA’s Gophers after seven straight losses, including Saturday’s 4-1 setback at Mariucci Arena.
Leading 3-1, the Beavers locked it up on goals by Brad Hunt at 1:38, Jamie MacQueen at 1:52 and Aaron McLeod at 3:04 of the third period.
MacQueen had two goals and Hunt and Shea Walters had a goal and an assist for the Beavers.
