Give God thanks on Thanksgiving Day
Published 7:42 am Monday, November 23, 2009
As we approach the end of November, are hearts are once again to reflect on all that we have to be thankful for. It is vital to our spiritual well-being that we give God thanks for what he has provided us. Romans 1:21 reads, “For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.”
God said that it is a darkened foolish heart that won’t thank him.
The Bible calls on us all to be thankful people, and give that thanks and praise to God, for he has presented us with many wonderful and precious gifts. Ephesians 5:20 says, “Giving thanks always and for everything to God the father in the name of our lord, Jesus Christ.”
As American we tend to take for granted what we have, simply because it was given to us, and we didn’t have to earn it. The same is true for all the gifts of God. God has given us much, and all he wants in return, like any good parent, is love, respect and thanks.
What do you have to be thankful for? If you are reading this, you have life and vision. Both precious gifts of God.
The Bible tells us that all good gifts come from God. James 1:17: “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the father.” We all need to set some time aside to give serious thought about the abundance of wonderful gifts God has given us. And that is what Thanksgiving is all about.
Let us take the special day, Thanksgiving, and bow our heads and give God thanks and praise for blessing us so abundantly. A thankful heart is a cheerful heart.
