About 2:06 a.m. Sunday, a patrol officer from the Albert Lea Police Department attempted to stop a vehicle for several alleged traffic violations on Broadway Avenue. The patrol officer activated his overhead emergency lights and siren to stop the vehicle. However, the vehicle continued on without stopping.
A low-speed vehicle pursuit ensued and stop sticks were successfully deployed to terminate the pursuit. Stop sticks are spike strips used to end vehicle pursuits by controlled deflation of the suspect vehicle tires.
The pursuit came to a conclusion at the intersection of Broadway Avenue and Fountain Street. No injuries or property damages were reported during this incident. Deputies from the Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the successful conclusion of the pursuit.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as 26-year-old Jeremy Scott Evenson of Ellendale. Evenson was arrested and held at the Freeborn County Adult Detention Center on numerous charges, including fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, first degree DWI/refusal to test, and other charges related to the pursuit, according to a news release from the Albert Lea Police Department..
