ALHS nominates two for ExCEL award

Kayla Swee and Kyle Kriewall have been nominated for the ExCEL (Excellence in Community, Education and Leadership) award. The program is designed exclusively for Minnesota high school juniors, and is sponsored by the Minnesota High School League.
Kayla Swee is currently a three-year letter winner in tennis and has received the Gold Spotlight on Scholarship certificate the past three years. Kayla also participates in Pep Band, Jazz Band, Show Choir, Orchestra Winds, and Choir. She is also a member of the National Honor Society and Link Crew. Kayla teaches Sunday school in her church and volunteers with the Community Theatre/Dance.
Kayla sports a 4.0 GPA and is an a honor roll student.
Kyle Kriewall is currently a two-year letter winner in football and has also lettered in wrestling and track. Kriewall has participated in Tiger Band at ALHS. Kyle is a member of Link Crew, the Yearbook Staff, and the Youth Advisory Committee. Kyle volunteers at church and at Loaves and Fishes, serving meals to the less fortunate, and serves as a youth football coach. Kyle is also an “A” honor roll student at Albert Lea High School.
Recipients of the award are selected through a multi-level process that includes League member schools and an independent panel of judges from schools throughout Minnesota. Award recipients will be recognized on KSTC TV (Channel 45) during the winter tournaments.
