Blue Earth got the best of the New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva girls’ basketball team Tuesday at the St. Clair Tournament with a 45-43 victory to even the season series at 1-1.

The Panthers (7-2) had a 10-point lead early in the second half but the Buccaneers went on a run at about the 6 minute mark to take the lead. Blue Earth went on to extend the lead to five points, but Carlie Wagner tied the game with 8 seconds left with a putback.

The Buccaneers scored on the next possession on a backdoor lay-up to win the game.

NRHEG plays St. Clair Wednesday for third place.
