The memorial service for Catherine “Addie” L. Hanson of Albert Lea will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea. Deacon Mike Ellis will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation with her family will be one hour before the service.
Memorials to St. John’s Lutheran Home or St. Theodore Catholic Church or the donor’s choice.
Addie died Monday Dec. 7, 2009, at St. John’s Lutheran Home, Albert Lea. She was 88 years old.
Addie was born Sept. 30, 1921, in Albert Lea, to Joseph and Lucille (Weis) Klimek. She has been an Albert Lea lifetime resident and graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1939. She married Hans A. Hanson on Dec. 9, 1942, at St. Theodore’s Parish House. She was a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church. Addie worked for Wilson Foods and worked for Hanson Zimney Construction as their office manager. Addie was a very talented artist. She enjoyed knitting, especially mittens, sweaters, and little hats for babies at the hospital. She enjoyed doing various crafts including ceramics and rosemaling. Addie was an excellent cook, enjoyed sports and watching the Minnesota Twins. She also volunteered at St. John’s Lutheran Home.
Addie is survived by two children: Anthony J. (Barbara) Hanson of Easley, S.C., and their children: Kate Schlagel and husband Bob and their daughter Addie, and Michal J. (Jane) Hanson of Albert Lea, and their children Jeffrey and Kelli Hanson; great-nephew, Jeffrey Severtson, and his wife Janet and their children: Kiersten and Bobby; niece, Patricia Nelson of Minneapolis; and cousin, Betty Gulbrandson of Albert Lea.
Addie is preceded in death by her parents: Joseph and Lucille Klimek; husband, Hans A. Hanson; and sister, Bernice McAllister.
