Get in the spirit with some holiday music

The Arc of Freeborn County willl present its annual nativity pageant at 7:30 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Albert Lea.

Guest soloists include Arnie Biedermann, Jim Felber and Barb Rehmke.

The Aflame Fellowship Bell Choir will also perform. Refreshments will be served in the fellowship hall following the program.

The Arc provides advocacy and support to people who have developmental disabilities and their families.

Following is a roundup of other events happening in the area this weekend.

Friday, Dec. 18

The Festival of Trees will be open at the Albert Lea Art Center from noon to 4 p.m.

 The Daybreakers Kiwanis Club will present Christmas in the City at 7 p.m. at the Marion Ross Performing Arts Center. Todd Utpadel and his friends will put on a concert to benefit local food shelves. The price of admission is food.

Saturday, Dec. 19

The Festival of Trees will be open at the Albert Lea Art Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

 Art Underground, in the historic Bessessen building at 224 S. Broadway Ave., features “Passing the Torch,” the work of Jan Schewe. The exhibit is open from 2 to 4 p.m.

Albert Lea High School and Southwest Middle School orchestra students will perform beginning at 2 p.m. at Northbridge Mall.

Sunday, Dec. 20

Albert Lea Disabled American Veterans Post 16 will host a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Albert Lea American Legion Club, 142 N. Broadway Ave. Cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children. Tickets are available at the door or in advance at Johnny’s Hobby Shop, Tone Music, Frames-R-Us, the American Legion Club and the Albert Lea-Freeborn County Chamber of Commerce.

 The Albert Lea Alano Society will hold a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon at its building at 1005 N. Ulstad Ave. The breakfast includes pancakes, french toast, hashbrowns, eggs, sausage, coffee and juice. Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children 10 and younger.

Harmony Junction Barbershop Chorus, along with the Fountain Street Brass, will present two holiday concerts. The first will be at 3 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church and the second at 7 p.m. at St. Theodore Catholic Church. Admission is free, but an offering will be taken to benefit the Salvation Army Food Shelf and the Ecumenical Food Pantry at First Presbyterian Church.
