On Dec. 3, kindergarten through fourth- grade students at Hawthorne presented “Celebrate The Season.”
The dress rehearsal was at 9:30 a.m. for the rest of the school and a few parents. The actual performance was at 1:30 p.m. More than 400 chairs were set up in the gym and still there were parents standing in the back and on the sides!
The students rose to the occasion and sang well. Some of the highlights were: “If I Could Fly Like A Snowflake” (kindergarten), “Snow Day” (first grade), “Have A Happy, Happy Holiday” (second grade), “North Pole Rock and Roll” (third grade) and “Everlasting Fruitcake” (fourth grade).
There were Irish dancers, recorders and boomwhackers adding to the songs. We also had small groups singing in first grade, second and third grades.
Each year, students sing the song in different languages (German, Spanish, Norwegian and Hawaiian). They look forward to learning a new language each year.
Grace Dawson and Ariadna Turrubiartes (kindergarten) sang “Silent Night” together and first-graders Nichole Tuttle and Alexis Breuer sang together.
