The funeral service Leona Behr will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Concordia Lutheran Church, Pickerel Lake. The Rev. Mark Boorsma will officiate.
Visitation will be one hour before service at the church. Interment will be in the Concordia Cemetery, Pickerel Lake Township. Bonnerup Funeral Service is assisting the family with arrangements.
Leona died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009, at St. John’s Lutheran Home, Albert Lea.
She was 92 years old.
Leona was born in Pickerel Lake Township on March 30, 1917, the daughter of Christ and Christine (Schmidt) Behr. She was baptized, confirmed and a life long member of Concordia Lutheran Church, Pickerel Lake. She was faithful to her church circle and altar guild. She lived on the family farm most of her life before moving to Senior Tower in 2002 and then to St. John’s Lutheran Home in 2005. She was a caregiver to her parents and brother and was always available to baby sit her nieces and nephews. Leona enjoyed sewing, needle work and working in her flower garden.
Leona is survived by her sister, Viola Johnson of Albert Lea; sisters-in-law Mary Behr of Albert Lea and Lorene Behr of Albert Lea; and many nieces and nephews.
Leona was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Orville, Kenneth and LeRoy Behr; sister, Lois Christianson; and brothers-in-law, Arthur Johnson and Raymond Christianson.
