David Schreiber of Tri-State Tax & Accounting is celebrating 25 years of professional affiliation with the National Association of Tax Professionals (NATP), a nonprofit professional association founded in 1979, and committed to excellence in taxation. Schreiber has dedicated himself to continued education and a high code of ethics and professional conduct.

Headquartered in Appleton, Wis., NATP serves professionals in all areas of tax practice and has more than 18,000 members nationwide who work in offices that serve more than 11 million taxpayers. The average NATP member has been in the tax business for over 20 years and holds a tax/financial designation and/or a college degree. Members include individual tax preparers, enrolled agents, certified public accountants, accountants, attorneys and financial planners. NATP fosters the lifelong development of professionals by:

Communicating knowledge;

Building resource alliances; and

Advocating for the profession and for public interest.

Schreiber, a “registered accounting practitioner” and an “enrolled agent,” prepares tax returns for small business owners, farmers and corporations.

Schreiber is a native of Albert Lea and opened Tri-State Tax and Accounting in 1983. He opened a second tax office, Refunds USA, in the downtown area during the fall of 2003.

“I was born here in Albert Lea and I went from kindergarten through 12th grade in the Albert Lea school district. I left Minnesota for a few years and lived in Texas, California and Iowa. During that time I obtained my accounting degree and acquired great work experience in the field of tax and accounting. After a few years I came back to my hometown to start my business. It’s been a joy, a wonderful journey and great privilege to live and work in this community. I’m also very blessed to have a knowledgeable and hardworking staff to help me serve the fine individuals and businesses in this area,” Schreiber said.
