LAKE MINNETONKA — Supporters of a single-payer government health care system are protesting on Lake Minnetonka on Saturday.
The Universal Health Care Action Network is gathering demonstrators on the ice outside the home of Stephen Hemsley, president and chief executive of UnitedHealth Group.
UnitedHealth Group is one of the nation’s largest health insurance companies.
The protest organizers say the health insurance industry has too much influence over the health care overhaul being developed in Washington. Speakers will include the head of Minnesota Physicians for a National Health Program.
