Patsy Block, 70

The funeral service for Patsy Jean Block of New Richland will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Bonnerup Funeral Service Chapel, Albert Lea. The Rev. Richard Spande will officiate. Visitation will be 4 to 6 Sunday at Bonnerup Funeral Service and one hour before service at the chapel. Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery.
Patsy died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009, at St. John’s Lutheran Home, following a battle with cancer the last three years. She was 70 years old.
Patsy was born in Albert Lea on Oct. 5, 1939, the daughter of Homer H. and Okelena (Baas) Hayes. She graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1958. Patsy was married to Eugene Block on May 5, 1989. She grew up in the Albert Lea area and the last 33 years has lived in New Richland.
She had worked as a waitress at B&B Café in Albert Lea, Nurses Assistant, Walters Cookbooks in Waseca, and retired in 1992 from Bird’s Eye where she had worked 11 years. She had also been a Cub Scout leader in New Richland.
Patsy enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, riding snowmobile and walking. Her greatest enjoyment was watching her grandchildren and birds and squirrels in the backyard from the kitchen window. She also was an avid sports fan, by watching all games on TV.
Patsy is survived by her husband, Eugene Block of New Richland; children: Kimberly Johnson (Scott) of Waseca, Trent Kchnert (Amanda) of McComb, Miss., Troy Kchnert (Nikki) of New Richland, Terry Kchnert (Christy Podratz) of New Richland; eight grandchildren: Joshua, Brittany, Samantha, Bianca, Trent Allan, Jacob, Devin, Dillon; two adopted grandchildren: Brianna Podratz and Dakota Neste; sisters: Delores Van Gerpen of Helena, Mont., and Pauline Snoore of Shellsburg, Iowa.
Patsy was preceded in death by her parents.
