Republican record is one of bullying

In 1952 the Republicans had not held the presidency for 20 years. They attacked the Democrats for being “soft on communism” through the House Unamerican Activities Committee under Sen. Joe McCarthy. That committee destroyed the careers of many decent citizens who “were, had been or associated” with communists. That success led to “swift-boating,” a modern epithet for character assassination. President Nixon had his enemies list and tried to use the IRS against his political enemies. Republicans tried to elevate President Clintons sexual escapades to the level of “high crimes and misdemeanors.” Republicans defined a “moral majority,” an American Taliban. The Republican record is 50 years of bullying.
Republicans assert that the government should not be in the business of picking winners and losers after having issued no-bid contracts to Halliburton, et al. Republicans try to portray themselves as fiscal conservatives after having saddled each of us with $30,000 of public debt with their “no-tax and spend” policies!
The Republicans attempt to reinvent themselves is a morally and intellectually bankrupt group’s attempt to preserve its access to power. The Democrats have taken the role of “good cop” to the GOP’s “bad cop.” Both parties are defenders of the status quo and enemies of progress. The business community will continue to fund both parties to preserve their monopoly on political discourse in the USA.
We must end this monopoly if democracy is to flower. The “bad cop” must be fired.
