Yes, Vinnie, there really is a Santa.

There are people who try to tell us that Santa isn’t real, but you and I know better. As long as there are people like you who believe, he exists.

Those who don’t believe meet him every day but never see him, but we know he is around all year long. He may be the guy who fixes cars or the woman who sells you a shirt. Santa may be a doctor or a nurse or a waitress or a clerk. Santa may be the lady who lives down the street or the farmer outside of town. Santa can be any of these and many more. For most of the year Santa may look just like you or me, but like you he is a believer and for one shining moment at Christmas he has a white beard, a red suit and a sleigh with eight flying reindeer. For that on shining moment a boy’s impossible wish for two chairs for his mother and aunt, so they can sit at the Christmas table, will come true.

So, for all the true believers and all the Santas, Merry Christmas. For your special Santa, I know Christmas will be especially merry because like you, he or she has discovered the real truth about Christmas. That truth remains through the ages, that the best part of a gift has always been in the giving.
