The Albert Lea ninth-grade wrestling team finished the regular season 6-0 and won the team state qualifying tournament in Fairmont Jan. 11.

The team beat Jackson County 79-6 and Owatonna 48-18. The team will compete in the ninth-grade team state tournament Saturday in Hastings.

Team members include: Justin Viktora, Bryce Hoyt, Dakota Wangsness, Spencer Carstens, Tyler Trihus, Jacob Tyler, Tristan Westerlund, Peter Berglund, Bani Chan, Hunter Hoyne, Roman Marinin, Allen Johnson, Jacob Borland, Travis Berg, Alex Seusser, Dylan Anderson, Jacob Kunkel, Andy Borland, Duncan Krominga and Devin Nelson.

The ninth-grade team also had their individual qualifying tournament Saturday in Jackson.

Dakota Wangsness took first at 95 pounds, Bryce Hoyt fifth at 100, Spencer Carstens third at 105, Jacob Tyler first at 119, Tristan Westerlund second at 125, Peter Bergland third at 130, Dylan Anderson second at 140, Bani Chan first at 145, Jacob Borland second at 160, Allen Johnson second at 171, Travis Berg fourth at 189, and Jacob Kunkel fourth at 285.

The top two finishers at each weight qualified for the state tournament on Feb. 6 in Champlin Park.
