Lake Mills senior Chris Throne and junior Marcus Gaskill put on a show during the first half Saturday as the Bulldogs boys’ basketball team cruised to a 78-60 victory over West Hancock in Lake Mills.
Throne and Gaskill combined to score 39 of the Bulldogs’ 43 first half points as they built a 22-point lead.
Throne scored 27 of his 31 points in the first half and Gaskill finished with career-high 22 points.
As dominant as Throne and Gaskill performed, Lake Mills head coach Kyle Menke said it didn’t feel as though they were the only ones involved because the Bulldogs (7-2, 6-1 NIC) had 25 assists as a team.
“They just happened to be on the end of the finishing,” Menke said. “We had 25 assists as a team. That’s when we’re at our best.”
Gerardo Ibrarra led the Eagles with 26 points.
Lake Mills has a tough three-game week ahead of it next week as the Bulldogs face Forest City, the top team in the conference, Tuesday, North Iowa Friday and North Sentral Kossuth, all of which they play in Lake Mills.
