The Minnesota branch of the Communications Workers of America union is backing Democrat Tom Rukavina in a crowded governor’s race.

It’s Rukavina’s first endorsement from a statewide union. The longtime state representative also has the backing of five United Steelworkers locals and several union leaders.

Labor unions have been going in different directions with 14 Democrats running for governor.

The Communications Workers of America represents more than 8,000 Minnesota workers.
