Freeborn County Republicans will hold their precinct caucuses on Feb. 2 at Albert Lea High School. Residents of Freeborn County who will be 18 years old by the November elections and interested in grassroots efforts are encouraged to attend. Younger people who are interested in the political process are also invited to join as visitors.
This is an opportunity to represent your precinct and help in the selection of delegates and alternates to the county convention, which will be held on Feb. 27. It is also the time when the county Republican platform will be developed. To learn more about the current Republican platform, visit http://www.sd60gop.org/mngop2006platform.pdf.
The precinct caucuses will officially start at 7 p.m.; however, candidates for state and federal offices are invited to speak between 6:30 and 7. People can hear some of their concerns and how they will address the severe economic problems. Attendees will also be casting a vote in the Gubernatorial Preference Ballot.
