Lila Ann Vande Weerd

The funeral service for Lila Ann Vande Weerd, formerly of Albert Lea, will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea. Deacon Mike Ellis will officiate. Interment will be in St. Theodore Catholic Cemetery.
Lila died Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, at St. Marys Hospital, Rochester.
Visitation will be one hour before the service.
Lila was born to Ward and Ida (Jenson) Bergey at Spring Grove. She graduated from Preston High School. Lila grew up in the Preston area and had lived in Arizona and moved to Albert Lea around 1960. She moved to Rochester after her retirement. Lila married Gordon Vande Weerd on June 22, 1952. Lila was a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church and past president of the ladies guild. She was active with the Fontaine Towers community association in Rochester. Lila worked as a Realtor for Trow Realty and also worked in the cafeteria for Lakeview Elementary School. She enjoyed reading, visiting with her friends at Fontaine Towers but especially enjoyed visiting with her grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
Lila is survived by her three children, daughter, Carol (Randy) Waltz, of Albert Lea, and sons, Ray (Ann) Vande Weerd of Spring, Texas, and Ron (Lisa) Vande Weerd of Mason City, Iowa; grandchildren: Mike Waltz, Jill Vande Weerd and Tom Vande Weerd, Brittany Lockwood, Tre Lockwood and Noah Vande Weerd; great-grandchildren: Gavin Waltz, Tayiah Waltz and Tabitha Heskett.
Lila was preceded in death by her parents, Ward and Ida Bergey, and husband, Gordon Vande Weerd.
