Maxine Sweet

Funeral services for Maxine L. Sweet, age 90, of Albert Lea, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Chapel. The Rev. John Bromeland and Kent Otterman will officiate. Interment will be at the Alden Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service.
Maxine died Friday, Jan. 8, 2010, at Good Samaritan Center in Albert Lea.
Maxine L. Sweet was born on Jan. 22, 1919, to Henry and Delia (Hegberg) Schaudt in Alden. Maxine grew up and attended school in Alden. On Feb. 12, 1941, she was united in marriage to Howard Sweet in Clarion, Iowa. Maxine worked as the secretary at the Alden school system and then worked as the manager of Stevenson’s Clothing Store. After her retirement she served as the secretary of the mall merchants at the Skyline Mall. Maxine was a member of the United Methodist Church in Albert Lea. She was also a member of the Rural Carriers Auxiliary and the Grapevine Twist Square Dance Club, as her favorite pastime was square dancing, where the couple traveled to several different states.
Survivors include her husband, Howard; daughter-in-law, Nancy Sweet; sister, Leona Sauer; sister-in-law, Helen Nelson; and many nieces and nephews.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; son, Bradley Sweet; brother, Carl Schaudt; and sisters Ardis Howser and Virginia Hoeg.
