Open dress rehearsal for ALHS one-act play entry tonight

“Once Upon A Time,” Albert Lea High School’s entry in the 2010 one-act play competition will present an open dress rehearsal for the public at 7:30 p.m. today in the high school auditorium. There is no admission charge.

The play, a series of fractured fairy tales, features Janet Lawler as the narrator, Mollie Hernandez as Little Red Riding Hood, Elisha Marin as Sneezy, Matt Attig as Jack, Chelsea Petersen as Jill and Snow White, Holly Ryks as the Stepmother and the Wicked Queen, Joshua Etherington as the Prince, Sarah Estes as Goldilocks and the Giant’s voice, and Zoe Hill as the Sound Girl, Hansel’ voice and the Giant’s voice.

Jeff Thorstad is in charge of lights.

The production is under the direction of Lilah Aas with John Fure as set designer, builder and prop creator.

Albert Lea is also hosting the South Subsection One-Act Play Contest on Friday. Other participating schools are Austin, Farmington and Winona.

The competition begins at 4 p.m., with Albert Lea performing at 4:45 p.m. Two schools will advance to the section finals at Lakeville South on Feb. 4. This event also is open to the public at no charge.
