The memorial service for Paul Dee Ostrem, of Albert Lea, will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday at Grace Lutheran Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. Todd Walsh will officiate. Friends may visit with family from 12:30 until the time of the service at the church on Thursday. Bonnerup Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
Paul died on Sunday, Jan. 24, 2010, at the Albert Lea Medical Center. He was 61.
He was born on Aug. 21, 1948, in Seymour, Ill., the son of Arling Iver and Mildred Bertha (Burnett) Ostrem.
He graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in Fort Dodge, Iowa, in 1966. He was united in marriage to Sandra Davis on Aug. 17, 1968, in Fort Dodge.
They had lived in Winona and Rollingstone until moving to Albert Lea in 1994. Paul was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and a former member of their council.
He was employed at Fastenal as a support specialist. He had previously worked as a manager of a grocery store in Winona and Super Fair Grocery Store, Albert Lea. He was a member of the Elks Club and a former member of the Eagles Club. Paul, a sports enthusiast, loved to golf, and watch all types of sporting events, especially the Minnesota Vikings. He also loved the competition of Wii bowling and welcomed anyone to the challenge. He was meticulous about his yard.
Paul will be greatly missed by his wife, Sandra; three children: Jason Ostrem and his wife Cindy and their children Tristan and Isabelle of Cochrane, Wis., Julie Brand and her husband Kevin and their sons Nicholas and Nathan of Winona and Jacqueline Gunderson and her husband Scott of Janesville, Wis.; sister, Marie Garrick and husband Rex of Eugene, Ore.; sisters-in-law: Judy and her husband Richard Johnson of Fort Dodge, Iowa, and Sherry and her husband David Ames of Rosemount; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Arling and Mildred Ostrem; and father-in-law and mother-in-law: Dale and Delvera Davis.
Paul’s biggest enjoyment in life came from being with family and friends.
