A snowmobiler was struck and killed by a pickup truck on an icy road in southern Minnesota.

Steele County Sheriff Gary Ringhofer said the 64-year-old David Rysavy died Thursday afternoon while crossing a road near Blooming Prairie on his snowmobile.

Authorities said the icy conditions complicated rescue efforts. The first ambulance to arrive at the scene skidded off the road. The man was taken by ambulance to the Owatonna Hospital, where he later died.
