Viking girls run past Saint Ansgar in second half

The Northwood-Kensett girls’ basketball team returned to the court Monday to face conference rival Saint Ansgar and the Vikings continued their dominating run through the Corn Bowl Conference with a 55-35 victory over the Saints in Northwood.

The Vikings (6-3, 4-1 Corn Bowl) went into the break with a 30-22 lead, but Northwood-Kensett limited the Saints (2-8, 2-4 Corn Bowl) to only 13 points over the last two quarters to pull away.

Kate Hartman led Northwood-Kensett with a game-high 28 points, while Britney Low also scored in double figures with 14.

Saint Ansgar was led by Kayla Hemann, who scored 11 for the Saints.

The Vikings will be back in action Tuesday as they travel to Riceville.
