Betty Edwards, 79

Funeral services for Betty J. Edwards, age 79, formerly of Maple Island, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Hollandale Conservative Congregational Church. The Rev. William Bankester will officiate. Interment will be at the Hollandale Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. 

Betty died Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010, at Gold Pine Assisted Living in Bemidji, following a short battle with cancer.
 Betty Jayne Edwards was born on Jan. 19, 1931, to Joseph and Rosalie (Hanson) Johnson in Indianapolis, Ind. She grew up in Albert Lea and was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church. Betty attended Albert Lea area schools. On June 26, 1949, she was united in marriage to Harold Edwards in Albert Lea. Throughout her life, Betty worked at various jobs including Miami Margarine and Hollandale Marketing Association. Betty was a member of the Hollandale Conservative Congregational Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. In later years, Harold and Betty wintered in Texas and had lived both in Colorado and Arizona. In 2007, they settled in Lake George. Betty enjoyed reading, animals, especially dogs and cats and doing beading and fancy work. She especially loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Harold of Lake George; children, Vicki (Jerry) LaCroix of Wasilla, Alaska, Michael (Sheila) Edwards of Albert Lea, and Bryan (Shelly) Edwards of Lake George; grandchildren, Danielle (Kevin) Floyd, Shayne (Tanya) LaCroix, Chad (Kendra) LaCroix, Lori LaCroix, Travis LaCroix, Jenessa Edwards, Carissa Edwards, Christopher Edwards, Beau (Sara) Edwards, Joshua (Megan) Edwards, Lacey Edwards and Tylor Edwards; great-grandchildren, Kailee and Krista Floyd and Ezra Edwards; brother Jerry (Sue) Johnson; sisters-in-law, Doris (Jim) Adams and Corrine Edwards; many nieces and nephews.
 Betty was preceded in death by her parents; son, Timothy Edwards; sister, Helen Kosmoski; and brother, Wilford Johnson.
