Dale F. (Mike) Jaquette died Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010, at Thorne Crest Health Care Unit in Albert Lea after a brief illness. He was born on June 2, 1919, to Earl and Pearl Jaquette in Clayton, Iowa.
Dale graduated from Guttenberg High School in 1937, and enlisted in the U.S. Army on March 17, 1941. Mike fought in World War II serving in the Normandy, Northern France and Germany campaigns. He was awarded three Bronze Stars for the Normandy, Northern France and Germany campaigns as well as the Good Conduct Medal. On June 15, 1945, Mike received his honorable discharge from the Army. He was also a lifelong member of the American Legion Post 373 in Guttenberg. On Jan. 22, 1943, Mike was united in marriage with Eunice Schweikert in Iowa City. Together they owned and operated Mike’s Service Station in Guttenberg for 44 years.  Mike was the manager and a player of the Lakeside Giants, a semi-pro baseball team in the early 1950s. In 2007, Mike moved to Albert Lea in the Thorne Crest Retirement Community. 
Survivors include four children: Mick (Judy) of Albert Lea, Mark (Deborah) of Florence, Ala., Mary (Bill) Frommelt of Las Vegas, Nev., and Marsha (Bob) Silhacek of Delano; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Iva Latta, of Arroyo Grande, Calif.; and special friend, Connie Hansen, of Albert Lea.
Mike was preceded in death by his wife, Eunice; his parents; and a brother, Keith (Buster).
Arrangements are being handled by Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 207 S. First, Guttenberg, Iowa. The family will receive friends from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Guttenberg, Iowa. The funeral service will be at United Methodist Church at 10 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Penny Hansel officiating. 
Burial will be in the Guttenberg City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the United Methodist Women.
