Graveside services for Doris M. Heilman of Albert Lea will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Graceland Cemetery in Albert Lea. The Rev. Dan Baker of First Lutheran Church will officiate. Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. at Bonnerup Funeral Service.
Doris died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010, at her home in Cartersville, Ga. She was 89 years of age.
Doris was born Aug. 17, 1920, in Bancroft Township, Freeborn County, the daughter of Gilbert and Helen (Rofshus) Kjos. She attended Freeborn County and Albert Lea schools. She was a lifetime member of Lutheran churches. Her early years at East Freeborn Lutheran Church, and in later years First Lutheran of Albert Lea. In 1940, she was united in marriage to Robert C. Heilman. During World War II she was manager of childcare at her husband Bob’s naval base in Ogden, Utah. Doris worked for many years at Wallace’s Department Store in Albert Lea.
Doris is survived by her sons Richard D. Heilman and his wife Sandy (Gilbert) of Port Orange, Fla., Fredrick E. Heilman and his wife Diana (Ebersohl ) of Elko Nev. and Danny R. Heilman of Cartersville Ga.; grandchildren Steven of Richmond Hills Ga., Laurie of Savannah Ga., Ann Margaret, Tara and Jennifer of St. Pauls, N.C., Brody of Grand Junction Colo. and Danny R. Heilman Jr. and wife Camy ( Jackson ) of Cartersville. Ga.; one sister, Helen Hendrickson, of Edina.; one brother-in-law, Warren Stowell, of Albert Lea; and many great-grandchildren and loved ones.
Doris is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob; brothers Clarence and Grant; and sisters Eleanor, Esther and Irene.
