Editorial: An idea for Blue Cross promotion

We like those advertisements from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota encouraging people to be active.

They say “Groove your body every day.” People dance in the ads as an example of being active.

There are other Blue Cross ads with an emphasis is on the word “Do.” These tell stories of people who successfully transformed their health through getting active.

The entire campaign promotes ways to get active, from cycling to hopscotch.

The Web site is http://www.do-groove.com/.

We have a suggestion for the list of things that the site urges people to do:

Do spend time with young children. Do read a book to them. Do play with cars and trains on the floor with them. Do roll or catch balls with them. Do go sledding with them. Do swim with them at the swimming pool. Do swing with them at the parks.

There are endless health benefits that come from spending time with a youngster. And for people without kids of their own, there are plenty of ways to volunteer locally.
