Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak was the top vote-getter Tuesday night in the Freeborn County Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party caucus gubernatorial ballot vote.
The following is the breakdown of votes:
Rybak: 16
Uncommitted: 16
Paul Thissen: 11
Tom Bakk: 10
John Marty: 10
Margaret Anderson Kelliher: 8
Tom Rukavina: 7
Matt Entenza: 5
Susan Gaertner: 3
Steve Kelley: 1
Ole Savior: 1
There are 14 DFL gubernatorial candidates seeking the party’s nomination.
Local party vice chairwoman Rose Anderson said roughly 100 people participated in the county caucus.
There were several resolutions submitted, and attendants showed most concern about jobs and health care, Anderson said. Many also disagreed with having a bonding bill.
“People are upset about the economy, the way it is,” she said. “And the schools are not getting money, and
the cities are suffering.”
She said she was pleased with the crowd of younger people who came to the caucus.
The party will next gather at the Freeborn County DFL convention. It is at noon Feb. 28 at the Moose Club.
