Organization news: First Lutheran Church Women

First Lutheran Church Women met Feb. 10 in Bethany Hall.
Prelude music was provided by Joan Holt.
Co- President Jinni Olson welcomed everyone and led in reading the purpose statement.
Devotions were given by Arlis Smith.
Marion Drescher introduced music by Clarence and Barbara Heavner, who played accordion duets and mouth organ for several selections.
Drescher introduced the program, “Habitat for Humanity Church Relations,” by Andy Sunday, Vista Worker.
Circle Roll was conducted by Gen Montei and Marge LaFrance. The winners were circle No. 4 and circle No. 12 with 50 percent in attendance.
Olson conducted the business meeting.
Elaine Peterson gave the corresponding secretary’s report as follows:
Thank yous came from:
Good Earth Village for $250 donation.
Lunch and poinsettia from Dan Baker, Julie Tlamka, and parish nurses Marge Evenson, Jane Maiden and Ann Satre.
Carla Reichel of St. John’s for the Sunday treats the month of January.
The organization received a number of brochures that will be placed in the library.
The 2010 budget was approved as was distribution of excess funds.
The 2009 annual report was distributed.
Co-President Lavonne Oftedahl gave the offering prayer.

Caring & Sharing; Co-chairwomen Lois Drommerhausen and Karin Mattson and committee served two funerals in January.
These Lenten observances are being held at First Lutheran Church.
Wednesdays through March 31
Lenten soup and sandwiches, 11:30 a.m.-12:10 p.m. Cost $5. Devotions 12:05 to 12:10 p.m.
Wednesdays through March 24
Recitals, 12:15 to 2:45 p.m. in the sanctuary. No admission charge.
Lenten evening meals, 5:15 -6:15 p.m. in Bethany Hall. Cost $5 per person or $15 per family. There will be an offering to support youth confirmation camp this summer. (Wednesday evening meals on March 31 is at 5:30 p.m.)
Lenten Worship Services, 6:30 to 7:10 p.m. in the sanctuary
Friday, March 5 at 9:15 a.m., Church Women United World Day of Prayer at Ascension Church.
