Rally urges override of health care veto

Supporters of health coverage for some of the state’s poorest residents rallied on Saturday outside of the governor’s mansion in St. Paul.
They are protesting Gov. Tim Pawlenty’s veto of a bill that would have extended a health care plan for 30,000 low-income adults. The demonstrators are urging the Legislature to override the governor.
Pawlenty cut off funding for the General Assistance Medical Care program starting April 1. He wants to shift some patients into another state health plan.
The vetoed bill passed both houses of the Legislature on Thursday with bipartisan support.
Democrats are considering an override attempt to overrule the governor.
