Harding University student Heidi Duncomb of Albert Lea is spending the spring semester traveling South America while studying at the University’s international program in Chile.
Duncomb, a junior chemistry major, is living on the program campus in Viña del Mar, a seaside resort located 70 miles northwest of Santiago, Chile. The program includes trips to Easter Island, the Lake District of Chile, Torres del Paine, the Atacama Desert region and Machu Picchu, Peru. This spring marks the first time the program will offer a trip into the Amazon Rainforest.
Harding faculty travel with the program so the students are able to take classes in Chile and learn about a different culture through living with the people of that country. The classes will focus on the Spanish language, culture and Latin American history.
Harding, in Searcy, Ark., had a record enrollment this year of more than 6,600 students from all 50 states and 49 foreign countries. It is the largest private university in Arkansas and attracts more National Merit Scholars than any other private university in the state. Harding also maintains campuses in Australia, England, France, Greece, Italy and Zambia.
