Astrup-Scott students compete

Students from the studio of Sharon L. Astrup-Scott scored exceptionally high at the Youth Music Competition Jan. 30 at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea.

Music professors from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, and Waldorf College in Forest City, Iowa, served as adjudicators. They critiqued and discussed each piece with the students. Each performer had studied and memorized a required and choice piece of music. All music aspects, including stage presence and performance etiquette were judged.

A practice performance/pizza event was held at Astrup-Scott’s home the evening before the competition.

Astrup-Scott teaches voice, piano, violin, viola, cello and theory to all ages, beginners to advanced, competitive to noncompetitive. Call her at 373-0672 for more information.
