Memorial services for Dorothy B. Hellie, 84, of Glenville, will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Kingdom Hall of the Jehovah’s Witnesses, Albert Lea. Noe Murillo will officiate. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home.
Dorothy died on Sunday, March 21, 2010, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.
Dorothy Bernice Hellie was born on Sept. 5, 1925, in Waseca County, the daughter of Herbert and Leona (Simmons) Kroeger. She grew up in Waseca County and graduated from New Richland High School in 1943. In September of 1946 Dorothy was united in marriage to Norman Hellie in Freeborn County. She and her husband farmed in the Glenville area, retiring about 10 years ago. Dorothy was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, devoted to studying her Bible and sharing it with others. She loved working on her farm and enjoyed going fishing with Norman. Dorothy was a very hospitable person. She especially enjoyed having company and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her son Tim and his wife, Debbie Hellie, of Glenville; grandchildren: Erika and her husband Noe Murillo of Waukon, Iowa, and Micah Hellie of Wallkill, N.Y.; brothers and sisters: Leonard and his wife Paula Kroeger of Albert Lea, Lois Olson of New Richland, Alice Bredlow of Mason City, Iowa, Archie Kroeger of Albert Lea, and Carl and his wife Mourice Kroeger of Stewartville; and many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Norman; her brother, Lloyd Kroeger; and a brother, Roland, in childhood.
