The Alden-Conger boys’ basketball jumped out to a big lead and weathered a late rally from Medford Tuesday for a 57-44 victory in the opening round of the 1A west subsection playoffs in Alden.

The seventh-seeded Knights had a 21-point lead at one point in the second half, but the Tigers rallied to draw near.

Travis Marth led Alden-Conger with 17 points and Lucas Kleinschrodt added 14.

The Knights move on to face second-seeded Lyle/Pacelli Thursday in Lyle.
