National Journal calls Tim Walz a centrist

This past weekend I had the opportunity to listen to and talk with Congressman Tim Walz. I, for one, am proud to have Tim working for us in Washington. I applaud his work in fighting for new credit card rules that have taken effect this week and his tireless work in pushing for job initiatives throughout southern Minnesota. Rep. Walz and members from both side of the aisle introduced the Guarantee Benefits for our Troops Act. This bill was signed into law last October as part of the fiscal year 2010 National Defense Authorization Act. This will fix the back-pay problem and ensure that thousands of our troops nationwide receive proper compensation. Let’s not forget his hard work to bring a new regional Veterans Administration clinic that will be built some where in the 1st District in the near future. This is just the tip of the iceberg of Rep. Walz recent hard work for us in Washington.
Yet there are candidates that wish to distort Congressman Walz’s record, calling him a radical and thoughtless liberal. But when you look at the facts, those accusations just aren’t true. In releasing its ranking of the members of Congress, the National Journal ranks Rep. Walz a centrist, meaning that he is much more to the center of the political spectrum than what the Republican Party wants you to believe.
Congressman Walz’s centrist ranking shows that he is a moderate among the members of Congress and is doing all he can to ensure that we the citizens of the 1st District have a strong voice working for us in Congress.
