The funeral service for Peter “Pete” Hayes Linder Sr. of Gardner, Kan., formerly of Albert Lea, will be held at 2 p.m. today at St. Theodore Catholic Church. The Rev. James Berning and Deacon Mike Ellis will officiate. Interment will be in St. Theodore Cemetery, Albert Lea. Visitation was from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, 2201 E. Main St., Albert Lea, before the service at the church. There was a prayer service at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Peter passed very peacefully on March 4, 2010, at his home in Gardner, Kan.
He was born on Long Island in Huntington, N.Y., on Nov. 9, 1931, the son of Charles and Florence ( LeFaivre) Linder.
He graduated in 1954 from Cornell University with a degree in animal science.
Peter served our country in the U.S. Army from 1955 to1958.
He moved to Omaha, Neb., in 1963 with Borden’s as a sales representative, where he met Joanne Bugher. They were married on April 24, 1965, and lived in Omaha until 1971. The family moved to Albert Lea and Pete worked with Syntex, and later for Pioneer Hybrid as a regional sales manager. He retired from Pioneer in 1991. He currently had resided in Gardner, Kan., after having retired in Lakeview, Ark., after 30 years in Albert Lea.
He attended St. Theodore Catholic Church.
His hobbies included watching Minnesota Vikings football, golfing, fishing, hunting, playing with his beloved dogs, reading, and spending time and playing with his five grandchildren.
Pete is survived by his wife of 45 years, Joanne; son, Peter, and his wife Rhonda of Olathe, Kan., and their three children: Peyton, Avery and Owen; daughter, Dianne and her husband Dave, who live overseas in Jakarta, Indonesia, with their sons: Carter and Sawyer.
He is preceded in death by his parents and an older brother, Charles (Chic) Linder.
Pete was a strong, proud and dedicated man. He loved his wife, kids, country and being outdoors.
