The memorial service for Scott Earl Sorenson of Albert Lea will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at United Methodist Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. John Bromeland will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea, and one hour before service at the church.
Scott died Saturday, March 20, 2010, at Albert Lea Medical Center. He was 50 years old.
Scott was born in Albert Lea on May 30, 1959, the son of Rodger and Vivian (Bolinger) Sorenson. He graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1977. Scott has been a lifetime resident of Albert Lea. He was a member of United Methodist Church. He married Julie Smith on April 25, 1981, at the United Methodist Church in Albert Lea.
Scott worked at Alliant Energy for 27 years and was a forman in the gas department. He was a member of the American Legion and Elks. Scott loved the outdoors, hunting moose, fishing, camping, and riding his motorcycle. He enjoyed going on family vacations, going to the casinos, and traveling. He also enjoyed playing cards which he learned from his grandpa Earl. One of his greatest enjoyments was going to the cabin on Tom Lake with family and friends.
Scott is survived by his wife, Julie, of Albert Lea; children: Erin Sorenson and fiance, Derek Rounds both of Frisco, Texas, Breann Sorenson of Albert Lea, Katie Sorenson of Rochester; parents, Rodger and Vivian Sorenson; brothers: Steven (Donna) Sorenson of Dodge Center, Dan (Sandi) Sorenson of Albert Lea; sister, Tami (Kevin) Weitzel of Albert Lea; nieces and nephews: Tia and Derek Sorenson, Allyssa, Cole and Lauren Sorenson, Dane and Jaclyn Weitzel, Scott, Craig and Emma Smith; father- and mother-in-law, Charles and Priscilla Smith of Albert Lea; brothers and sister-in-law: Steve Smith of Minneapolis and Mike (Deb) Smith of Minneapolis.
Scott was preceded in death by his grandparents; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
