Emery Davis

Funeral services for Emery Irving LaMeigh Davis will be held at 1 p.m., Monday at the Faith Lutheran Church in London. The Rev. Kent Otterman will officiate. Interment will be in the London Deer Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
Emery Irving LaMeigh Davis, son of Clyde and Corinne (Hendrickson) Davis, was born Jan. 23, 1921, in London Township, Freeborn County. He grew up on his parents’ farm in Deer Creek and graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1939. Emery was confirmed in the Christian faith at Deer Creek Valley Lutheran Church. On Jan. 26, 1941, he was united in marriage with Clarice Heegard. Three children were born to Emery and Clarice: Sheldon, Sharyl, and Steven.
Emery worked on the farm with his father and for other farmers and also worked at Hormel in Austin. Emery and Clarice moved to their home south of Myrtle and began farming on their own. In addition to farming, Emery sold for Archer Oil, McCurdy’s Seed, Watkins and Conklin. Clarice assisted in these ventures and they enjoyed many friends and trips associated with Conklin. Emery loved horses and in the mid 50’s purchased his first pleasure horse. He became very active raising and showing POA’s and developed many life long friends. Emery was active in his church. He was a member of the parish council at Deer Creek Valley Lutheran Church. He was a founding member of Faith Lutheran Church in London as well as an Elder. Emery loved children, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He remained at his home until he moved to the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood, Iowa, in February 2008.
Left to cherish his memory are his children: Sheldon of rural Glenville, Sharyl (Paul) Ferley of Northwood and Steven of Burnsville; grandchildren: Shelly Woitas, Suzette (Michael) Kragenbrink, Commander Mark (Rebecca) Ferley, Stacy Davis, Cassandra (Michael) Kvale, Heather (Jamie) Pribyl, and Jerad Davis; great-grandchildren: Aaron and Andrew Woitas, Calvin, Mitchell, and Jack Kragenbrink, Alec and Nicole Ferley, MacKenzie Davis, twins Abigayle and Isabella Kvale and Eva Pribly; brother, Laurell (Clarice) Davis; sister-in laws: Margie Davis and Gladys Kenyon; brother-in-law, Leonard Tews; cousins, and many nieces and nephews.  
Emery was preceded in death by his wife, Clarice, in October 2006; parents; siblings: Curtis, Alton, and Yvonne; daughter-in-law, Rita (Sheldon); granddaughter, Suzanne Davis; sister-in-law, Arliss (Alton); and brother-in-law, Hubert Kenyon.
