Funeral services for James Stuart Sanborn, age 70, of Austin, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Chapel. The Rev. John Bromeland will officiate. Interment will be at the Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Jim died Friday, April 2, 2010, at Good Samaritan Center.
James Stuart Sanborn was born on Sept. 25, 1939, to George and Alta (Nelson) Sanborn in Freeborn County. Jim grew up on the family farm near Hayward and later moved to Albert Lea. He attended District 60 School and Albert Lea High School. After high school, he was employed at the Farm Labor Gas Station in Albert Lea. Later, Jim moved to Austin and was employed by ABC and Cedar Valley Career Industries for 40 years. He was a confirmed member of United Methodist Church. Jim loved the outdoors and loved growing and nuturing his roses. The highlight of his day was driving his ’79 Ford to the Watts Cookin’ restaurant and having coffee with all his friends. He also enjoyed hunting and watching Minnesota Twins games.
Survivors include his brother, Clint Sanborn; sister, Carol Stiles; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Sanborn; and several nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, George and Alta Sanborn; brothers, Charles Sanborn; and in infancy, George M. Sanborn Jr. and Ricky Duane Sanborn.
Jim’s family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at Austin Medical Center, St. Marys Hospital in Rochester and Good Samaritan Center in Albert Lea.
