Lake Mills girls’ track team takes third at CWL Relays

The Lake Mills girls’ track team turned in six first-place finishes in its first meet of the season Monday in Britt at the CWL Relays.

The Bulldogs finished third overall with 23 points, just behind West Hancock, which scored 30 points and the meet winner North Iowa, which scored 37 points.

Haley Krull won both the 100 and 200-meter dash while Lake Mills won three relay events.

The 4×800 relay team of Darcy Nelson, Catherine Adams, Lindy Pins and Hallie Erdahl took first, as did the distance medley relay team of Megan Johnson, Mackenzie Baumann, Brooke Groe and Pins and the 4×400 relay team of Mathews, Nelson, Baumann and Erdahl.

Nelson also won the 400 hurdles.

“Right from the start we were racking points up,” said Bulldogs head coach Kristen Wempen. “I’m happy with our finish. We’re right in striking distance.”
