Madelia-Truman rallies past Knights softball in seventh

Madelia-Truman used a seventh-inning rally to beat the Alden-Conger softball team Thursday 4-2 in Alden.

The Knights (1-1, 1-1 Valley) grabbed a 2-0 lead after the second inning, but Madelia-Truman (2-0, 1-0 Valley) rallied to tie the game in the fifth and won it in the seventh with two runs.

Alden-Conger tallied just one hit in the game while Madelia-Truman notched 11, but the Knights got a run from senior Allyssa Maras when she stole two bases and came home when the Jayhawks tried to pick her off at third.

Freshman Ariel scored on a sacrifice for the other run on a sacrifice.

Alden-Conger came apart in the seventh after giving up a double to start the inning, the Knights made two errors and gave up another base hit to allow Madelia-Truman to win.

Alden-Conger faces New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva Saturday in the NRHEG Tournament in New Richland.
